About Us

There is a good chance you found us accidentally by using the word “taint” in your search (If you found us on purpose, you deserve our accolades). Of course we don’t know what you were looking for, but you stumbled on a damn cool project. Look around; let us help send you on a musical journey. Here you will find a number of album reviews from the strange and extreme to the tame and mainstream. Our reviewers are a bunch of obsessive miscreants. Most of us are avid music collectors and have been involved in the music world for decades. A couple of us have been in or are still in bands.

There are no rules on Tickle Your Taint Blog. Our reviewers might make you laugh, or piss you off; both results are legitimate. One reviewer might write a glowing review of an album another might tear it apart. We may end up adopting a single review system, such as five stars, or each reviewer may use his own or none at all. We may have a new review every week or we could end up with one every six months. This blog exists as a social experiment to build community among a diverse group of music maniacs – our reviewers and hopefully you. Pull down your knickers, lube up and join us in tickling yours and our taints.

Gusty Bellows’s Favorite Music in 2019

 By Gusty Bellows

Here are a few new albums I enjoyed in 2019:

Guided by Voices, Sweating the Plague (GBV. Inc).

Big Business, The Beast You Are (Joyful Noise).

Cherubs, Immaculada High (Relapse).

Roger C. Reale & Rue Morgue, The Collection (Rave On).

Wolf Manhattan Project, Blue Gene Stew (In The Red).

Ex Hex, It’s Real (Merge).

Redd Kross, Beyond the Door (Merge).

Metz, Automat (Sub Pop).

Ceremony, In the Spirit of the World Now (Relapse).

Purple Mountains, Purple Mountains (Drag City).

Also, I enjoyed this record from 2018:

Eric Bachmann, No Recover (Merge).

There was a lot more out there that I wanted to hear, but lack of time and money left me with those mentioned above.

More of my time was taken up by seeing more live music this year, which is always better. Here are some or most of the bands I saw:

Bob Mould at Washingtons in Ft. Collins.

Eli “Paperboy” Reed and Dressy Bessy at Washingtons.

JD McPherson at Washingtons.

X at Washingtons.

Eric Bachmann at House show in Denver.

Cherubs with Moon Pussy and Quits at Moe’s Original BBQ in Englewood.

Built to Spill at Mishawaka.

Melvins with Redd Kross at Aggie Theatre in Ft. Collins.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets with Meatbodies at Aggie Theatre.

Big Business at Surfside 7 in Ft. Collins.

Samiam at Surfside 7.

Bellrays at Hodi’s in Ft. Collins.

Joy Subtraction at Surfside 7

Kurt Vile and the Violators with Dinosaur Jr at Mission Ballroom.

Acid Mothers Temple at Surfside 7.

Elephant Stone at Surfside 7.

Supersuckers at Hodi’s.

Slim Cessna’s Auto Club with Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds at Surfside 7.

Heart Bones with Good Fuck at Surfside 7.

Blasting Room 25th Anniversary celebration at Washingtons.

Armchair Martian with Scott Reynolds opening for a band I’ve forgotten at the moment at Surfside 7.

Locust at Moon Room.

Acid King at Marquis Theater.

Plus, I saw Dead Key and Hoss if my memory serves me correctly. Plenty of others happened and some I may have attended, but those are what I can recall.

One last thing that was probably my most favorite of 2019 was a book. Released just before Christmas, it is called Colorado Crew: Denvoid Part 2. It covers the best part of the 1990s for me. Many memories were stirred while flipping through the pages. Thank you Sonny Kay and Bob Rob Medina for the time and effort it took to put together such fine piece of Colorado history.

Well I believe that is it for now. Hope all is rockin’ for you in 2020!
